PMPML to add 500 AC electric buses to its fleet
Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will add 500 electric air-conditioned buses to its fleet from August.
The move comes days after PMPML scrapped the tender to procure 550 standard AC buses last week. “Since that tender has been scrapped, the transport utility will now procure 500 electric AC buses. Earlier, the PMPML had also scrapped the tender for procuring 400 diesel-run and 400 CNG-run buses,” PMPML director Siddharth Shirole said at a press conference on Friday.
“The earlier tenders were scrapped following a discussion with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. The CM wanted us to concentrate on eco-friendly electric buses. We have added the maintenance clause in the tender for the 400 CNG buses. This means that the supplying company will also be responsible for their maintenance,” Shirole added.
